FAQ TIPS Mac compatibility:

All keyboard label kits will fit both PC's as well as Macintosh keyboards. We produce our label sets in a generic size, .435 x .525 inches (small 1x size key-top label measurement) that should fit both the PC clone and Apple keyboards.  We sell a lot of label sets to the Apple keyboard users and have had no complaints regarding their fit on these boards.

iMac large print keyboard?

At the present time, we support the iMac with large print labels, and do not have actual large print keyboards for this application.

Why And How To Blank Out Keys

FAQ TIPS Blank out keys for schools or teaching typing:

Here are the options:

1. Molded of black flexible material covers the complete keyboard.  Removable and replaceable (has adhesive along the outer edge, but can be removed/replaced at will).  These are molded specifically for each keyboard, so will fit only that particular keyboard.
Need to have Brand, Model#, FCC ID#, etc off the back of each keyboard.

2. Self-adhesive blank labels adhere directly to the
top of the keys to cover the original legends. Once removed, they are not re-useable. Available in Ivory or Black.  Ivory: OV-0701, and Black: OV-0645.

3. A keyboard with no print on the letter or number keys (keyboard comes with original keys & key-puller to replace actual printed keys when desired). Hooleon p/n KB-0157.

4. Same as above, but keyboard is color-coded to keep each finger on the correct keys for new typing student. KB-0158

Re-legend Key-tops With Point Of Sale Snap Caps

FAQ TIPS Re-legend your key-tops:

Relegendable keys consist of a base (usually gray or ivory) and a clear lens that snaps over the top of the base.  To view goto>Relegend Keys. This allows you to put a colored paper label under the lens to designate the legend and the color desired on that particular key.   Because it must fit into the switch mechanism on your particular keyboard to activate the key, the base must be an exact fit, replacing the key you will be removing.  Tooling for relegendable keys is not available for all keyboards.  Please give us the brand keyboard, the model number and any other information on the back of the keyboard so we can determine if we have the correct relegendable key for your keyboard.  Also, how many keys you need for each row.  Are you doing one keyboard or a quantity of them?

Lock Out Unwanted Or Dangerous Keys

FAQ TIPS How to order key lockouts:

To place an order for the hard lock out key items we will need to know what keyboard you are needing the lockouts for, as lockouts are specially made for the different brands/models.  Please give us the information off the back of your keyboard, such as: Brand, Model#, part#, FCC id#, etc., plus any other numbers that might reference that particular keyboard.  It will be a starting point to identify which lockout is needed.

Durability of Key-top "Sticker" Labels

Yes. Our labels can be removed from your key-tops without damage to the key or existing key legend. However, due to the aggressiveness of the adhesive used, a very tight bond is created between the key and label. Once you remove the label after this bond is achieved (approximately 24 hours) the adhesive is not suitable for reuse.

FAQ TIPS Will your label sets fit my laptop keyboard?

Touchdown™ Key-top Label kits are die-cut to fit a standard PC keyboard. In the world of laptop computers there are a variety of key sizes and layouts used on the keyboard. Our experience has been that our label sets will work on most laptops. In cases where the labels are slightly too large, many of our customers will trim the label to fit. This is not the best solution but is quite functional.

Why Are There So Many Color Options On The Label Kits?

The color scheme of the transparent label set that you purchase should be based on the actual print color on your keys. The color of your keyboard keys should also be the color of your labels. For example: If you have black keys on your keyboard, the installed label should appear to have a black background. You will need enough contrast between the key color and legend color to be able to comfortably see the new legend. Our white print labels work great on black or dark keys.

If you are purchasing an opaque label set (large print, replacement labels, etc.) the color scheme you choose is simply personal preference. These labels will block out the existing keyboard legend and will have both background and legend colors printed. We make every effort to use color combinations that have high contrast for easier viewing.

Why Is The Sticker Print Location On The Key-tops So Important?

FAQ TIPS Where are legends located on your label kits?

Most keyboards have their original legends printed in the upper left quadrant of each key. Our transparent label kits are designed to allow you to see the existing legend as well as the "new" legend. Therefore, our transparent label kits are printed with the legends placed in the lower right quadrant or in instances of multiple legends (example: mid-range/mainframe emulation) we right and/or bottom justify the new legends. Many of our label sets are designed to mask the original legend and replace it with a new legend. In these instances we attempt to make legend placement as close to original legends as possible which is the upper left quadrant of the label.
